Process & instrument air for chemical plants

Compressed Air for Chemical

Chemical processing uses compressed air for instrumentation, agitation, pneumatic conveying, and process control. We supply screw and booster compressors with dryers and vacuum systems engineered for the reliability and air quality chemical plants require.

Instrument air in a chemical plant is a safety-critical utility, not a convenience: pneumatic control valves and actuators fail to a safe position when air pressure drops, which means an interrupted or contaminated air supply can force an unplanned process shutdown even when nothing else on the plant has gone wrong. Instrument air is conventionally specified dry and oil-free to protect sensitive positioners and I/P transducers from fouling — contamination in the air line becomes contamination (or a malfunction) in the process.

Beyond instrumentation, chemical plants use compressed air for agitation, pneumatic conveying of powders and granules, and general process control, often in areas where corrosive vapours are present. That argues for equipment with corrosion-resistant fittings and coatings and for dryers sized with margin, since a chemical plant that trips on an air fault loses far more than the cost of the compressor itself.
