Air-jet weaving looms use compressed air, not a mechanical shuttle, to fire the weft thread across the loom width — each pick is a precisely timed air pulse, and a modern high-speed loom fires hundreds of picks per minute, which adds up to a very high continuous CFM demand at moderate pressure across a weaving shed running many looms in parallel. That volume requirement, more than the pressure figure, is usually what determines compressor sizing for a weaving mill.
Moisture in the air line is a specific, well-known defect source in textiles: water carried into the loom's air-jet nozzles causes inconsistent thread tension and staining on the fabric, so a properly sized refrigerated dryer paired with the compressor is treated as essential rather than optional. Fibre lint and dust from spinning and carding are also pervasive on a textile floor, making robust intake filtration and a maintenance schedule tuned to a dustier-than-average environment a practical necessity for round-the-clock production.
