Compressed Air for Plastic
Plastics processing uses compressed air for injection and blow moulding, material conveying, and part ejection. We supply screw and booster compressors with refrigerated dryers to provide the clean, dry, stable air that protects mould quality and cycle times.
Blow moulding and injection moulding put different demands on a compressor: blow moulding needs a high-pressure air pulse to inflate the parison against the mould wall, similar in principle to PET bottle production, while injection moulding uses lower-pressure air mainly for mould release, part ejection, and cooling — sizing one compressor room to serve both duties well means specifying for the higher-pressure blow-moulding load and treating the lower-pressure uses as a lighter draw on the same system.
Pneumatic conveying of plastic granules and regrind material generates fine dust that, left unfiltered, accelerates wear on compressor intakes and valves — the same concern as in ceramics, just from a different material. Cycle time is also pressure-sensitive: a compressor that can't hold stable pressure through a fast injection cycle shows up as inconsistent part quality and longer effective cycle times, which is a direct cost in a high-volume moulding operation.
